Exam Overview
Claude Certified Developer Foundations exam is Anthropic's foundational developer assessment for technical professionals who build, integrate, and ship Claude-powered applications, agents, and workflows.

- Duration: 120 minutes (plan for approximately 135 minutes of total seat time, including check-in, instructions, and a brief post-exam survey.)
- Passing Score: 720 on a scaled score of 100-1,000.
- Scoring: Results include pass or fail, a scaled score, and the percentage of items answered correctly in each domain. Domain percentages are diagnostic and do not determine the result.
Exam Structure
The CCDV-F exam uses applied technical items to assess how developers select, implement, evaluate, secure, and operate Claude-powered applications.
- Question Types: Multiple-choice and multiple-response items; each item states how many responses to select.
- Number of Questions: 53 items.
- Assessment Focus: Agents, API mechanics, Claude Code, evaluation, model selection, prompt and context engineering, security, tools, and MCP.
Exam Policies
Before completing your CCDV-F exam registration, review the rules for changes, cancellations, retakes, identification, and exam-day conduct.
- Rescheduling: Pearson VUE permits free changes when made at least 24 hours before the appointment. Changes made within 24 hours forfeit the exam fee.
- Cancellation: Cancel at least 24 hours before the appointment for a full refund. Cancelling within 24 hours or failing to appear forfeits the fee; a refund request after cancellation may require contacting certifications-support@anthropic.com.
- Retake Policy: Candidates who do not pass may retake after 14 days following the first failed attempt, 30 days following the second, and 90 days following the third.
- Retake Fee: Each attempt costs the full published CCDV-F exam fee, with any eligible partner discount applied in the same way. The limit is four attempts per exam in a rolling 12-month period.
Certification Validity and Renewal Options
After you pass the CCDV-F exam, the credential remains active for a defined period.
- Validity: The certification is valid for 12 months from the date the credential is awarded.
- Renewal Options: Before expiry, complete Anthropic's free, open-book online assessment on Partner Academy to extend the certification for another 12 months. If it lapses, pass the full exam again at the full fee.
Exam Fee
- Base Fee: The published CCDV-F exam fee is $125 USD before any partner-tier discount; this is the base CCDV-F certification cost.
- Taxes: Applicable taxes, if any, are determined at checkout; a universal tax-inclusive CCDV-F certification cost is not published by Anthropic.
- Partner Discount: Registered-tier partners pay the listed price. Select, Preferred, and Global Premier partners receive 50% off, while Global Premier partners receive 100% off through December 31, 2026.
Prerequisites
Before attempting the CCDV-F exam, candidates should note:
- No mandatory prerequisites or required courses are published.
- Recommended: One to five years of software-engineering experience and at least six months of hands-on Claude or comparable LLM experience.
- Recommended: Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, REST APIs, CLI tools, LLMs, agents, context management, and MCP; access is limited to Claude Partner Network employees using a recognized partner-company email who are at least 18.
