Exam Policies

  • Offline Proctoring: Test center delivery is available through Prometric. Reschedule/cancel fees apply: $100 within 2 business days and $50 within 3–10 business days of the appointment
  • Online Proctoring: Remote delivery is available through Prometric, but for FINRA exams other than the SIE, candidates need an approved accommodation to schedule an online appointment
  • Waiting Period: After a failed attempt, candidates must wait 30 calendar days; after three or more successive failures within two years, the waiting period becomes 180 calendar days
  • Retake Fee: Full exam fee must be paid for each retake.

Certification Validity and Renewal

  • Validity: The qualification remains active while registration is maintained. If registration lapses, exam validity and registration status are governed by FINRA qualification and maintaining-qualification rules

Prerequisites

The SIE exam is also a corequisite, and candidates must pass both the SIE and Series 6 to obtain the Investment Company and Variable Contracts Products registration.
